Με σύνθημα «αυτό δεν είναι το όνομά σου», η Παμμακεδονική Ένωση των Η.Π.Α., ξεκίνησε την παγκόσμια εκστρατεία συλλογής υπογραφών, μέσω του διαδικτύου, με σκοπό να ανακληθεί η απόφαση της αμερικανικής κυβέρνησης, του 2004, επί Μπους, για προσωρινή, όπως έλεγε τότε, αναγνώριση των Σκοπίων με το όνομα «Μακεδονία».
Η ένωση των ομογενών, έχει εξασφαλίσει τη στήριξη του Αρχιεπισκόπου Αμερικής Δημητρίου, καθώς και της μεγαλύτερης ελληνοαμερικανικής οργάνωσης AHEPA. Η Παμμακεδονική Ένωση ξεκίνησε το πρώτο στάδιο του εγχειρήματος συγκεντρώνοντας δεκάδες χιλιάδες υπογραφές ‘offline’ από ενδιαφερόμενους Αμερικανούς πολίτες (ελληνικής και μη καταγωγής), πέρσι τον Απρίλιο και τώρα κλιμακώνει την εκστρατεία της.
«Στηρίζουμε διαχρονικά την προσπάθεια της Παμμακεδονικής και ιδιαίτερα την νέα πρωτοβουλία για την συλλογή υπογραφών για την υποβολή υπομνήματος με το οποίο θα ζητείται η ανάκληση της αναγνωρίσεως της FYROM με το όνομα Μακεδονία», δήλωσε ο Αρχιεπίσκοπος Δημήτριος σε ανακοίνωση Τύπου που εξέδωσε το γραφείο του, ενώ αναμένεται να ακολουθήσουν σχετικές ανακοινώσεις στήριξης του εγχειρήματος από ομογενειακές οργανώσεις παγκοσμίως.
«Είμαστε πανέτοιμοι. Έχουμε στην φαρέτρα μας όλα τα επιχειρήματα που χρειαζόμαστε αλλά και την υποστήριξη του Αρχιεπισκόπου κ.κ. Δημητρίου, ο οποίος είναι κι επίτιμος πρόεδρος της οργάνωσής μας. Είμαστε σε θέση να γνωρίζουμε την αλλαγή των γεωστρατηγικών ενδιαφερόντων στην ευρύτερη περιοχή περί της Ελλάδας και το συμφέρον των δύο πατρίδων μας», λέει ο πρόεδρος της Παμμακεδονικής Δ. Χατζής, απευθύνοντας έκκληση σε Έλληνες και ξένους να υπογράψουν προστατεύοντας όχι μόνον την ελληνική αλλά την παγκόσμια ιστορική κληρονομιά και αλήθεια.
Υπενθυμίζεται ότι ο Αμερικανός πρόεδρος Μπαράκ Ομπάμα κατά την προεκλογική του εκστρατεία το 2008 προσυπέγραψε επιστολή με 39 άλλα μέλη του αμερικανικού Κογκρέσου στην οποία καλούσαν την ΠΓΔΜ να θέσει τέλος στην αρνητική εθνικιστική προπαγάνδα της και να εργαστεί με τον ΟΗΕ και την Ελλάδα στην εξεύρεση κοινά αποδεκτής λύσης για την ονομασία. Καθώς επίσης να κάνουν βήματα, όχι μόνο για «τον τερματισμό της διάδοσης αρνητικής προπαγάνδας κατά της Ελλάδας», αλλά και να «επανεξετάσουν το περιεχόμενο των βιβλίων, χαρτών και διδασκαλικών εγχειριδίων, διασφαλίζοντας ότι αυτά παρέχουν ορθή πληροφόρηση».
Εν όψει των επικείμενων προεδρικών εκλογών στην Αμερική η Παμμακεδονική επαναφέρει το θέμα της σχετικής δέσμευσής τους.

WE, the undersigned, citizens and residents of the United States of America and of countries around the world interested in advancing American interests in Southeast Europe and the Eastern Mediterranean and regional stability, petition the Obama administration to: REVERSE the Executive Order by the Bush Administration of 2004, recognizing the country of the “FYROM” as “Republic of Macedonia”.
U.S. Administration thought in 2004 that by recognizing FYROM as Macedonia would have brought stability. It was fooled. Sign the petition and ask Washington to restore truth and justice!
The recognition of the F.Y.R.O.M. as “Republic of Macedonia” by the Bush Administration was intended to assist the stability in the country in relation with the Albanians, and other minorities. Instead of stability, the recognition of the country by the United States as “The Republic of Macedonia” assisted the ethnocentric Slav led government to use it as a tool to enact despotic laws and autocratic practices such as restriction of the Press and imprisonment of political prisoners.
Furthermore, for various reasons, F.Y.R.O.M. continually provokes its neighbors and especially Greece. It has perceived the U.S. recognition as approval and encouragement for its identity theft and identity fraud. Since its recognition by the United States, as “The Republic of Macedonia”, the F.Y.R.O.M. has increased its inimical and provocative actions against Greece, driven by their ill perceived “national goals” of expansionism at the expense of Greece.
F.Y.R.O.M.’s continued provocative and irresponsible narrative fuels their domestic nationalism and regional instability, creates unpredictable conditions for the region and indeed the world.
Taking into consideration the above, WE, the undersigned American citizens interested in advancing American interests in Southeast Europe and the Eastern Mediterranean and regional stability, petition the Obama administration to reverse the Executive Order by the Bush Administration of 2004, recognizing the country of the “FYROM” as “Republic of Macedonia”.
